Elizabeth
Coolidge-Stolz, M.D. was
a resident in internal medicine at New England Deaconess
Hospital (Boston) with the goal of specialization in
hematology and oncology. After an accident ended her
clinical career, she made the transition to medical
publishing. Although not by design, Elizabeth has moved
from a goal of academic medicine to satisfying work
as a medical educator: She has written materials for
audiences ranging from physicians to sales representatives
to school students. In each case, her aim is the same:
to make the underlying science accessible, appealing,
and accurate.
Elizabeth
worked for the New England Journal of Medicine and Little
Brown Medical Books. She has been self-employed as a
medical writer since 1994 and works with Biomedical
Media as both a writer and consultant for a variety
of projects. She has an M.D. from Pennsylvania State
University College of Medicine and a B.A. from Bryn
Mawr College (magna cum laude with Honors in Biology).
